Thank you for visiting!

Welcome!

My name is Ella Lee. I am the founder of Purposed Powered Women Inc.

A 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization for battered/abused women and their children.

Purposed Powered Women was incorporated in 2007 when I made a heartfelt choice to become involved in the awareness and prevention of domestic abuse.

The need for Transitional Homes in the Metropolitan area serving as a safe haven is completely overwhelming. These homes will enable our organization and the community to assist women affected by domestic violence both physically and mentally.

Our goals are to provide full circle services to women and their children in the DC Metropolitan area.

What is Domestic

Violence?

Domestic Violence is a violent confrontation between family or household members involving physical harm, sexual assault, or fear of physical harm.

Family or household members include spouses/former spouses, those in (or formerly in) a dating relationship, adults related by blood or marriage, and those who have a biological or legal parent-child relationship.

Domestic Violence is a pattern of behavior which involves violence or abuse by one person in a domestic place against another, such as in marriage, live in partner or roommate. Intimate partner violence is domestic violence by a spouse or partner in an intimate relationship against the other spouse or partner. Domestic Violence can take place in heterosexual or same-sex relationships, a dating relationship, adults related by blood or marriage, and those who have a biological or legal parent-child relationship, it has no prejudice or bias. Domestic means living in the same household.

Domestic Violence presents itself in different ways such as, physical, emotional, verbal, economical and sexual abuse, which can range from subtle, forms of pressure to intimidating force such as marital rape and to violent physical abuse that results in disfigurement or death.

Domestic Violence often occurs because the abuser believes that abuse is justified or that it will not be reported. If you have children, this may create the mindset that violence is normal or acceptable behavior.
